Why Scrapbook

Some people have asked me, “how did you get to where you are now?”

It all started with a love for scrapbooking. What is a web page but a digital scrapbook page? Everyone has a story to tell! There is the individual’s story. There is a family story and family history. There is a business story and a business history.

Scrapbooking is not just a past time – a hobby, but better than chocolate.

It is an art form where you don’t have to be an artist first.

Everyone has pictures. I don?t know anyone that doesn?t like to sit down with an album in front of him and just relive the past with pictures. I know when my chilcren were little the first thing they did when friends came over was to pull out the family album, go through all the pictures and tell their friends the stories I had told to them about all of the pictures. Now, my grandchildren do the very same thing.

You are not always going to be there to tell the stories

This became very real to me when my mother passed away. So often we had talked about going through all of her pictues to get some order into them. When she died, I inherited all of those pictures but there is no one there to tell me who all the people are or even what some of the occasions were.

Family history is important

When children ask, ?where did I come from?? I know they are asking about their heritage, their ancestry and the places they came from. They want to know how their own family history ?fits in? with the world. They want to know their ancestry.

Pictures were too expensive

As a single mom, when my three little girls were under the age of 10, pictures were a big expense. I just couldn?t see spending the money on pictures when I had to feed and clothe them all by myself, but sometimes I very much miss those three little girls and wish that I had more pictures of them. I was so grateful when I went through mom?s pictures that there are so many of my three little girls.

Pictures are a legacy, treat them with kindness and care. Tell the story behind them.

In time, I hope to have a lot of tips and tidbits about the pages and getting the family history finally complete.

Why do you scrapbook? What keeps you from doing it? Let me know what you love about paper crafts.
